A good year for Woolbrook Public School got even better this week with the official opening of its new library, built with a $350,000 grant through the federal Building the Education Revolution scheme.
Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay joined the school community to celebrate the newest addition to the school’s infrastructure, opened by Senator Doug Cameron.
“This year the school also achieved funding to paint its buildings, level the soccer field and install a watering system and line its multi-purpose shed,” he said.
“Building up education infrastructure is a great investment for the future. It benefits students and staff and the whole community.
“Woolbrook school is fortunate to have such a supportive local community and excellent staff who will make the most of these new and upgraded buildings.”
Principal Malcolm Airs told guests the library was a much needed addition for the school particularly as it was air conditioned to meet the extremes of the local climate.
As well as library classes it is used for assemblies, meetings and other school activities.
A stage had been installed in the newly lined multi-purpose shed and would be used for school drama performances, indoor sports and other activities.
