The Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay today encouraged the community to help make sure one of the region’s many fantastic local events is named number one in the search for Australia’s Favourite Event.
Mr Torbay said voting is now open for Australia’s Favourite Event, with the winner to be announced as part of the 2010 Australian Event Awards to be held at Sydney Olympic Park on 7 October.
“Bragging rights are up for grabs in the vote for Australia’s Favourite Event and I’m sure everyone in the region wants to see one of our great events take top spot,” Mr Torbay said. “For example Opera in the Paddock, supported this year by the NSW Government with a $10,000 marketing grant, was fantastic events that brought many people to the region.
“There’s still a few weeks to go until the voting for Australia’s Favourite Event closes, so there’s plenty of time to choose,” Mr Torbay said.
There is a current list of events for voters to choose from and event organisers can also nominate their events for public vote on the www.australiasfavouriteevent.com.au website.
The NSW Government provides assistance to regional event organisers through the Regional Flagship Events program, which has provided more than $4.4 million in support to almost 200 regional events since it began.
Australia’s Favourite Event nominations are part of the Australian Event Awards to be held at Sydney Olympic Park on 7 October 2010. Voting closes at midnight (AEST) on 12 September 2010 and the winner will be announced at the Awards on 7 October.
The event with the largest number of votes wins. There is no cost to nominate an event or to vote for an event by internet. To nominate an event or vote, visit
