Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay says the Guyra Hospital Auxiliary’s contribution to the local hospital and the town is invaluable.
Last week he attended the Auxiliary’s meeting in Guyra where Treasurer Diane Walls’ report showed the organisation had raised $13,200 during the last 12 months.
“Given that there are only ten to 15 active members that represents a lot of hard work at clearing sales, street stalls, organising a book fair, Carols by Candlelight and over events,” Mr Torbay said.
“I was very pleased they received a $1,800 grant this year from the state government to buy some new lightweight tables to help with their activities.
“The hospital and the community benefits from this ongoing support and I am always impressed by the efforts of volunteers like the Auxiliary members who contribute so much to their community.”
The fundraising effort provided the hospital with new mattresses for its acute care beds, items for the foot clinic, toiletries for the emergency department, hair dryers for aged care residents and water coolers throughout the hospital.
The new executive elected at the meeting includes Nola Hill as President, Gail Montague Secretary and Dianne Walls Treasurer.
