Glen Innes High School and Head Science Teacher Leanne Newsome ,Executive Director of the Glen Innes and District Services Club Pat Lonergan, Member for New England Tony Windsor, Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay and Principal Michael Gray viewing the newly refurbished science labs at the school.
Glen Innes High School plans to share its new state of the art language laboratory with the local community.
Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay who visited the school to inspect the newly completed Science and Language Laboratories said both projects would benefit students, staff and the community.
He said the state funded refurbished science laboratories were expected to encourage greater take up of the subject at Glen Innes High.
“The old labs were sixties vintage and required the upgrade to bring the facilities to modern standards,” Mr Torbay said.
“All students take science subjects from Years 7-10 and with new classrooms, interactive white boards and improved technology , student interest in science is expected to increase in the senior years.”
While at the school, the MP also visited the newly completed language laboratory with its interactive computer system.
“Around 350 students study Japanese and with these new facilities being shared with language teachers in the community, more opportunities are expected to open up,” he said.
“You can’t argue with a solid investment in school infrastructure as the results speak for themselves.”
