Funding of $5,000 each for Glen Innes and Tenterfield promotion projects

Monday 7th December 2009
Member for the Northern Tablelands, Richard Torbay has welcomed $10,000 in state funding for projects in Glen Innes and Tenterfield.
The Glen Innes Severn Tourist Association receives $5000 towards developing a brochure for two Celtic Country drives.
The Tenterfield & District Business Association Inc has also been allocated $5000 to support its shop local campaign in 2010.
“Both these projects will strengthen their local communities by encouraging tourism and local business activity,” Mr Torbay said.
“It’s good to see allocations from the government’s Small Chambers of Commerce Fund for such worthwhile ventures.”
The MP said the Celtic Country drives would extend from Glen Innes to Emmaville, Deepwater, Ben Lomond and Glencoe, sustaining local economies and jobs. The project has the support of Glen Innes Severn Council
The Tenterfield project would encourage more people to shop and do business in the town, Mr Torbay said.
“This local initiative to encourage businesses to work together to attract more customers and keep money circulating within the Tenterfield community,” he said. “When people and businesses unite behind a project it has a much stronger chance of success. It’s good to see this government support to assist the local effort.”
The Small Chambers of Commerce Fund is administered by Industry & Investment NSW as part of the state’s $85 million Building the Country Package.
